Term 2 Week 4

Hello everyone!!

It's been a busy start to Term 2 and the students in Room 15 have been working well.

We hope everyone had a lovely Mother's day and enjoyed the special flower bracelets the students made, developing their cutting and fine motor skills. Thanks to our Art teacher, Ms Randall, for supplying the class with the materials.

Congratulations to last week's merit certificate winners, Ishaal, Tyson, Ritaaz and Krystal. These students are great role models to their peers as they always demonstrate excellent manners and do their best at all times. Well done!

Our own class assembly is coming up on Friday the 14th in Week 7 and the students are already doing a great job remembering the actions and lyrics to the Continents and Oceans song. We are enjoying working with Room 13 and Mrs Laycock, learning all about the world and the Earth's resources as part of our Geography and Science unit. Over the next few weeks our classes will be working on their WOW writing which will be displayed at the assembly. Be sure to check out the students' wonderful work on the day.
**If any parents are available to volunteer a few hours of their time over the coming weeks to help create our colourful continent backdrop, we'd be ever so grateful! Just let Mrs. T know if you are available any Wednesday afternoons from 1:30pm.**

Super Scientist will be running again this term and a note with more information will be going home soon. This time students will spend 2 to 5 minutes demonstrating a small, safe experiment to their class and will be assessed on their speaking and listening skills. Students are encouraged to start thinking about what sort of experiment they could share with the class.

We have been lucky to work with our buddy class throughout the year. Each week a number of Year 6 students help our Year 2 students with their reading and these Buddy Reading sessions are looked forward to by all. Our Year 6 buddies have also helped celebrate Harmony Day as well as commemorate ANZAC Day. Thank you to Mrs Lowther and the Year 6 students of Room 11!!

The cold and flu season is upon us and it has hit Wattle Grove quite hard. We will be encouraging students to wash their hands before eating and remind them to cough or sneeze into their elbows.

Thank you again to everyone who attended the Parent Interviews at the end of Term 1 and feel free to stop by if you ever have any questions. I appreciate you supporting Room 15 on their learning journey and look forward to updating you again soon.

All the best,

Mrs T x
